AVID

What is AVID?

AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and is a unique program at Design39Campus. We currently offer the year-long elective for seventh and eighth graders. Sixth graders have the opportunity of taking an introductory AVID course on the 6th grade elective wheel.

AVID is specifically designed for those students who have the potential and drive to take Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses in high school with the goal of attending a 4-year university. The AVID program teaches students specific skills that will enhance their overall academic success and their ability to handle rigorous courses.

AVID curriculum is driven by WICOR methodology, which stands for Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading. WICOR instructional strategies engage students to make challenging content accessible. In addition, AVID students have access to college tutors on a weekly basis. To help promote our vision of college and career readiness for all, we attend two different local universities each year.
